Welcome back! I wanted to give a brief update on a number of different fronts. First of all, thank you to everyone who has supported the project of daily biblical reflections so far. We have passed the third way mark for this year, and it's been a great encouragement to get into the text of scripture in so much depth, and to spend time reading commentaries and to share some of my findings with you all.
So far, we've gone through the book of Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and are into the book of Deuteronomy. We've done in the New Testament, Matthew, Mark, John, and are into the book of Luke. It's been an absolute delight, and I hope it has been a blessing for you as well.
Thank you to everyone who has bought books for the project. I use a lot of resources in thinking through particular texts and questions, and it means a lot to have commentators and others to turn to as counsellors when thinking through these questions. It's also been a great blessing to have the financial support that people have given.
So thank you so much to everyone who has supported this project. It really makes it possible to consider something on this sort of scale when I have people who are faithfully committed to supporting me. So thank you for that.
Second thing, over the season of Easter, I wanted to do something to thank you guys for following me and for supporting me. And seeing as we couldn't do so much over Easter this year because of coronavirus, I wanted to create something. And so the last few weeks I've done recordings of The Wind in the Willows and more recently The Princess and the Goblin.
We finished that yesterday, and so today I'm going to be beginning a series on The Five Children and It by E. Nesbitt. I hope you enjoy that one too.
Third thing, in a few weeks' time, at the beginning of June, I'm going to be starting a new course for the Davenant Institute.
This course is going to be on the subject of Jesus the Teacher. It's going to run for 10 weeks. It costs $99 to attend for these weeks.
And you'll have access to the classes which will be taught live, and then the recordings of those classes will be given to everyone who attends. We will get into depth on the subject of Jesus as a teacher. We often struggle with how we understand Jesus as a teacher or a sage or some person who's giving wisdom teaching or teaching about the law.
And how to relate that to Jesus as the one who does mighty works, Jesus as the one who is the saviour, Jesus as the one who is the Lord. I want to explore the theme of Jesus as the teacher and see just how vast a range of material gets drawn into this discussion. And to give you a sense of the exciting riches that are to be found in an exploration of this issue.
So please consider joining us. This is going to be made available to people who would not usually be able to go to a seminary course or anything like that.
You don't need to have great knowledge of the biblical text even.
You don't need to have expertise in Greek or Hebrew. This is a more accessible course. And so I hope you will consider joining.
The details for signing up will be in the show notes along with everything else.
Thank you so much for listening. It's been a real blessing to have you following along my work and invested in asking questions and considering some of the issues that I've been considering with me.
It feels like a shared journey. So thank you so much for that and God bless.
