Welcome back to this, the final episode in 2019. I've been remiss in not giving you an update on what's happening with the Daily Office Book of Common Prayer project that I suggested a few months, a month or so ago. It is going ahead, and it will start this evening or tomorrow morning.
So if you're interested in reading through a lot of your Bible in the next year, I would suggest following that. The idea is that every day I will give a reading of part of the Old Testament, part of the New Testament, following the order of the lectionary for the Morning Prayer in the Book of Common Prayer, the new ACNA version. Now, this is going to be about 15 minutes in length, more or less, for each day, and it will provide some reading of the text, some reflection upon it, and maybe some questions for meditation.
If you're interested in doing this with me and others, it would be a great way to get deeper into your Bible, to think about the text during the day, and just let it become a bit more part of your life. Now, my hope is that this will become something bigger, and there are already things happening behind the scenes, so watch this space. This is the first iteration.
It's going to be on my SoundCloud account, and it will also be available on iTunes and elsewhere, but it will be within my regular material.
Later on, it may migrate elsewhere, so I'll keep you posted on that as it happens. But there are exciting things afoot on that front.
Over this past year, I've produced about 150 videos for this podcast. I've done a complete series on the story of the family of Abraham. I've done most of a series on the 12 days of Christmas last year, and then last year leading into this year.
And then I also have started a series on the Book of Matthew, which I will complete in the new year. All of these things have been a lot of fun for me, very stimulating, that have challenged me to get deeper into the text and to explore things that maybe I've not explored in quite the same depth before. Along with these, I've also done a lot of work with Theopolis, with the Davenant Institute, and with various other projects that I've been involved with.
If you've been paying attention, I've just posted a link to an interview or conversation I had with Jonathan Pagiot, an Orthodox artist and someone who produces some fantastic videos on symbolism. I highly recommend you follow his account. But I had a conversation with him on the subject of symbolism from a more Protestant perspective, and you can see that on his account.
I'll link to it on my blog.
There are a number of other things that I'm looking forward to in the next year. I'm going to be away for a lot of the month of January, so things will be fairly quiet here for the next few weeks.
But I hope when I return to complete this series on Matthew, to get into depth in some of the passages that we have coming up, I've really been looking forward to getting into some of these as I've been reading up and researching for them. And there's a lot of really great material coming up. I'm quite excited about it.
So, I wanted to take this opportunity as well to thank everyone who has supported these podcasts and videos. It has meant so much. It has really made a difference.
It's made it possible for me to consider things like this larger project on the Book of Common Prayer. That's really because of you guys, because of people who have been prepared to invest in what I'm doing here. I really feel that what I'm doing is something, it's not just me, there are a lot of other people who are invested in giving the time and the feedback, the money, the prayer, and all these things that have made this possible.
So, thank you so much. It's really something that has meant a great deal to me this year, knowing that what I'm doing, I'm not doing it alone, but I'm doing it with the support and the encouragement and the investment of other people. Now, there's not much left to say at the moment.
I'm going to leave you on that note. There's a lot to look forward to in the next year.
Take a look at the video I did with Jonathan Paggio and tune in tomorrow morning for some reflections from the lectionary in the Book of Common Prayer.
I'll leave a link to that and I will leave a link to the video I did with Jonathan Paggio. Thank you so much for listening. For all the time that you've given in this past year, it's really been a blessing to be part of this journey of exploring the text more deeply with you.
God bless and best wishes for the next year.
