Freedom in Christ

William Wallace: [Deliberately.] I am William Wallace, and I see a whole army of my countrymen, here, in defiance of Tyranny. You’ve come to fight as free men, and free men you are. What will you do without freedom? Will you fight? [Shouts of denial from the crowd.]  Blonde Soldier: Fight? Against that? No! [Members of the Scottish army shout in agreement.] We will run! And we will live.  William Wallace: Aye. Fight and you may die. Run, and you’ll live...at least a while. And dying in your beds, many years from now, would you be willing to trade all the days, from this day to that, for one chance – just one chance – to come back here and tell our enemies that they may take our lives [With growing excitement] but they’ll never take our freedom!

This week Bryce and I explore the idea of freedom in the scriptures. Some of our favorite moments in film and history involve individuals fighting for freedom. Christ is the ultimate freedom fighter and is the model that all other freedom fighters, knowingly or unknowingly, model when they give their lives for the sake of freedom.

Definition of freedom 1: the quality or state of being free: such as a: the absence of necessity, coercion, or constraint in choice or action

Key Texts: John 8:32,35-36; Galatians 4:1-7,9,21-31; 5:1,13-15; Romans 6:15-23; 8:2,21; Revelation 12:10-12

My guest joining me this week on the Sunday series is my brother Bryce. Bryce is getting his undergraduate degree in philosophy and hopes to get his MDiv. from a seminary after he completes his undergrad. He hopes to be a pastor shepherding Gods people one day.
